About
Hello! I’m Pia, and thank you for visiting!
About Little Timbre Studio:
Pia Robbins opened Little Timbre Studio in the fall of 2008 to provide a safe, creative and engaging place for children and their families to discover and explore music and music making. Her teaching combines her lifelong love of the performing and creative arts, along with her knowledge and understanding of the learning process and child development. Since opening, Little Timbre Studio has serviced nearly 200 families in the Eugene/Springfield area.
At Little Timbre Studio the teaching is student-centered, exploratory-based with the development of the “whole child” as the goal. Music instruction does not exist in isolation. Your child will learn skills through music such as improvisation, creativity, listening skills, language and reading skills, cognitive and emotional skills that help develop the “whole child,” not just the musician.
Lessons and classes include drumming, singing, movement, rhythm/tonal instrument exploration, improvisation, focused listening, composition and games. Each child brings their unique strengths to music class. Pia works to develop each child’s potential by incorporating the ideas of Dalcroze, Suzuki, Orff, Gordon and Montessori in her teaching. She develops lesson plans that engage the whole child and designs her lessons around the learning styles of each individual student.
Little Timbre Studio is a home-based studio located in a quiet, forested setting. Natural light fills the teaching space through several large windows and skylights. Music lessons have been known to draw attentive, local audiences of deer and wild turkey! Musikgarten classes are held at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in downtown Eugene.
